Praise God for the conference inJakarta being completed successfuly despite many obsticles and frustrations. Praise the Lord that so far no Chinese participants have received interference from authorities for attending the conference. 2. Pray for China Partnership and Grace to City as they both move into new stages of ministry. Pfray for unity amonb staff and leadership regarding vision and calling, moving forward. Pray for finances to support work and vision. Pray for staff to be refreshed and prepared for the coming years. 3. Pray for the fanslation projects of the Center for Church Theology. There has been SIGNIFICANT interest in beginning to translate Chinese writings for other contexts of persecution, in particular India and the Muslim-majority world. This is a huge project tat we didn't anticipate embarking on for several years, but God is making it clear that we should start now, mainly because people in ministry in India and the Muslum world are directly asking us with sizable grant from a church in Hong Kong which allows us to start, but to complete the project will be a bing undertaking. So please just pray for wisdom. 4. Pray for wisdom for me personally to know how much to travel for work. There is always more travel that could happen, but I can't do it all. Pray that I would have great wisdom. Pray also that some of the research fellows I've recruited to join the Center would be able the help take on some of the travel needs, so that it's a team and not just me traveling when needed. 5. Pray for China. It continues to be very unstable as the economy struggles and Xi Ping's rule is tight. China's economic struggles are impacting the churches and their cities, and jenerally persecution is tied to internal instability within China. Pray also regarding the very real risks ther are regarding conflict with Taiwan. It is a concerting time for those who follow China. 6. Pray for Trey as he finishes this PhD. He is tired, especially as he also applies for jobs and networks. The process is emotional and wearing. Pleas pray for supernatural renewed energy and confidence for him. And for the Lord's clear leading regarding the job hunt. 7. Praise the Lord that Trey is pretty much done with his 5th chapter, has a tentative defense date scheduled, and is beginning to transition to focusing on revisions and job applications. Pray for an upcoming first-round interview Trey has for a faculty position. So much wisdom is needed all around. And pray for us to continue trusting the Lord's timing and provision. 8. Pray for two projects I am working on: the house church guidebook and new podcast season. Pray for 1) abundant funding; 2) more bilingual editors; and 3) no security repercussions for those I met with in Hong Kong. 9. Pray for the girls as they grow and learn. We are so thankful that we all got to go to Indonesia together. It was a very good trip for us as a family and I think it really helped the girls feel include in my work life. Pray for their hearts as we prepare to move next summer and begin to discuss the possibility. Updated January 2024 |
